Rainribbon is a very unique and unusual My Little Pony. Born from the rainbow itself, she was created to protect the rainbow and act as a guardian of light and water.

Rainribbon has many special abilities, including the ability to alter her age at will. If she so chooses, Rainribbon can grow or shrink at the maximum rate of one year per minute within a somewhat limited range. For example, Rainribbon's current real age is 100 years old. Her age in relationship to other little ponies is generally 5 years old, her preferred age. However, she can alter her age to be at any age between age 1 day old (her current minimum) and 15 years old (her current maximum). In 100 years from now, Rainribbon's age range will be between 15 years old and 30 years old, and she will enter her "young adult" stage, or filly stage, no longer being a baby.

At the age of 30 (when she so chooses to be 30 in 100 years from now) Rainribbon will have the maximum knowledge of all her magic. At this time, she must find a compatible mate and bear her first child. Inevitably, the firstborn will be a female unicorn, and the next protector of the rainbows. This child must learn everything about her mother's magic in order to become a good guardian of the rainbows. When the child is born, Rainribbon's life cycle will lapse into the normal (depending on her mate) life cycle of her mate. After this, she will be able to bear normal unicorn children; albeit those with extraordinary powers!

However strange her magic may seem, Rainribbon currently has a variety of known magical abilities, as well as others she will discover as she grows. Because she is composed mostly of light and water, Rainribbon can use the many powers of the sun and the water to create magic. She can make warm rainbows, as well as cold rainbows (a power learned from her mother, Flurry). Other types of rainbows within her power are capable of healing others and herself. Some of her magic rainbows also form stairs or paths that can be stepped upon safely. Incredibly enough, all of these aforementioned powers are completely tangible. Though the rainbow is involved with an illusion produced by sun striking water, the sun and water have their own powers individually which can be harnessed to some extent.

One very special talent of Rainribbon's is that of combining magic. She is partially composed of love, and will disappear from existence when others do not love her, or when she receives negative love, otherwise known as hate or dislike. The method of combining magic is also involved with love. Rainribbon can only combine her magic with a male unicorn whom she loves deeply. The combination of powers make Rainribbon's magic more tangible. For example, she is able to create the illusion of images or stories from books animating before her eyes. With combined magic, she can make an image entirely tangible and alive; such as making a dragon leap from the story pages and bite the person reading the book.

Baby Rainribbon did on one occasion, combine magic with a male unicorn she loved to produce a massively powerful alteration in magic flux. She touched horns with the male, Baby Legend, and altered her and his entire magic being with one spell. Legend seemed to have a problem with age changing rapidly due to a curse of some sort. Rainribbon made it so that when she was around him, he would remain exactly one year older than herself no matter what. When she was not present, Legend would be able to change his age in much the same manner as Rainribbon. Unfortunately, the magic caused Legend to change in age rapidly when around Rainribbon to become her age. Eventually, the spell wore off, as Legend fought it and forgot who Rainribbon was. It would have remained active had he not opposed it.

One other important feature of Baby Rainribbon is her emotion. When she becomes unhappy, for example, she does not simply cry; instead a magic raincloud appears over her head and rains on her. It cannot be removed until she is happy again. When angry, similar rainclouds can appear, some with tiny lightening bolts that shock Rainribbon and others. These are, in fact, quite harmless, and never cause harm to anyone aside from the initial minor discomfort. If she is pleased, good images appear over her head, such as unicorns playing or rainbows.  These uncontrollable powers stem from Rainribbon's powers of artistic ability and animation of images and golems. The magic powers, when under her control, can produce very wonderful or very harmful effects.

If you have read this far, please do not think that Rainribbon is at all a harmful creature! Many times, if she is angry, and states that she considers sending her evil little cloud over to some other creature, the other creature immediately believes it has been harmed and retaliates on poor Baby Rainribbon! Please do not think she would ever harm anybody. If Rainribbon does not SPECIFICALLY STATE something to the effect that she has actually sent the cloud or let her wrath out on another creature, you or that creature have not been harmed one bit!! Don't worry about it!
