Ancient Art

"This is the oldest of Rainribbon's pony pieces that we were able to locate for now. This sketch is not dated, but it was drawn by looking at the box in which the Sweetheart Sister pony came, and as a result it is presumed that Rainribbon drew it around 1990-1991. The reason why the pony has strange words of color marking is that it was originally planned to be a 'color by word' piece for Rainribbon's younger cousin. However, writing in the colors would have been tedious for the tail and small rays of the sun, and as a result, Rainribbon soon abandoned the idea after beginning the piece. The actual drawing fills an entire page, and it is shown here in greatly reduced size. Rainribbon created another work of art including the same Sweetheart Sister around the same time as this one was made. The second piece is an interactive beach scene with two ponies and several other objects and creatures that are backed with Velcro so as to be moved about on the background, which has small Velcro areas on which to stick the creatures and items. We hope to locate this piece soon so that we can add it to the exhibit."

"This piece was drawn on a sheet of paper on which Rainribbon typed up the song to the 'My Little Pony Tales' cartoon so that she could memorize it. It seems a bit strange to most individuals, but she did so in order to be able to annoy her cousins with the pony song whenever they began to sing the most abhorrent 'Song that Never Ends' from 'Lambchop's Sing-Along,' which was what they did to bother her once in a while. Once again, the image has been reduced, but in this case, the original was close to this size. This image is also not dated, but we think it was created around 1992-1993. There are other images that Rainribbon drew on the covers of the video cassettes on which she recorded the 'Tales' cartoons, but we cannot as yet scan them in."
