These are the chronicles of Wave Rider and Hidden Pearl. This page contains two stories, the first of which is approximately one page long, and the second of which takes up approximately three printed pages. Wave Rider To The Rescue

It was a beautiful day in Ponyland. The sun beat down upon the sand, and the warm waves crashed against one another, playing tag in the deep blue sea. Wave Rider, the male seapony, had decided to take advantage of the excellent weather and to go for a ride on the wonderfully turbulent waters!

Wave Rider leapt onto a whitecap, and he went crashing toward the shoreline! He yelled and whistled as he rode the waves! Suddenly, Wave Rider saw a strange shape in the water. He craned his neck to get a better view. A brightly colored object was being tossed about like flotsam in the sea!

Wave Rider dove underwater and swam as fast as his fins would carry him. As he approached, the object began to cry out to him! It was a baby earth pony, trapped in the water! Propelled by fear, Wave Rider hurried to help. He snatched the pony out of the foam, and carried her safely to land!

“You need to be more careful when you go swimming, little one!” Wave Rider recommended, as the baby pony thanked him for saving her, “Your parents must be worried sick about you!”

“Oh, no, kind sir,” the little pony replied, “I have no name, and no parents! I have been living by myself here by the sea for as long as I can remember!”

Wave Rider was confused. He could not believe that there could be an orphaned baby pony! He decided that he should take her to live with the other land-dwelling ponies, and he guessed that they would find her a name.

“Come along, child!” Wave Rider ordered, “I'm going to bring you to the other ponies!” Wave Rider dived underwater and got his surfboard. He put the baby pony on top of the board, and pushed her over to Paradise Estate. When they arrived, all the little ponies were filled with glee to meet the newest member of their herd! Majesty thanked Wave Rider and presented him with a magical shark's tooth as an honor for saving the baby pony!

Wave Rider's Romance

Wave Rider was having the most incredible dream. He saw himself diving into the ocean to go home after a long day of surfing, and as he did so, he saw the most incredible thing! A seapony Aphrodite! She was beautiful! Long, flowing mane... beckoning tail... and the deepest, most enchanting eyes that he had ever seen in his life...well, in his dreams, anyway... Wave Rider was trapped under the vision's spell. He swam towards her, chasing her... She swam a bit away, and continued beckoning by bending her supple tail in the waves...

All of a sudden, Wave Rider felt something tickle his mane! He snapped out of his dream in an instant, afraid that there could be an Arctic current blowing through his cave. Frantically, he opened his eyes and darted his head from side to side...and found himself face-to-face with the vision from the dream!

“What the...?” Wave Rider mumbled.

“Wave Rider, please don't be afraid...” the vision said calmly, “I am Hidden Pearl, and I wanted to thank you...”

“Woah, there! Wait just one minute! You are a FIGMENT OF MY IMAGINATION! You ARE NOT talking to me right now!” Wave Rider swam back away from Hidden Pearl, afraid that he was losing his mind, “...And there's no reason for you to thank me, but if there ever was... You're welcome! Please remain in my dreams and don't return!”

“Wait! Please calm down! I am a magical seapony, and I created that dream for you! I was the baby pony who was stranded on the shore today! Before I was born, my mother made a pact with an evil unicorn, Mirk. She promised Mirk that she would give to him her most prized possession in exchange for giving her the Hidden Sea Pearl, a magical stone that resembled a pearl. The Hidden Sea Pearl was rumored to provide its owner with everything that the owner desired. My mother got what she desired... She received everything of which her materialistic mind could dream. But what she did not know was that her prized possession would be her daughter... Me. When I was born, my mother refused to relinquish me to Mirk. My father returned the Hidden Sea Pearl, and all the riches that came with it, to the evil unicorn, but nothing would override the pact.

Ultimately, Mirk left me with my parents, but with a curse. I was destined to change form and to become a tiny baby pony during the day, with no memory of my normal life, until I would meet and marry the legendary male seapony...” Hidden Pearl left off, panting.

Wave Rider, who was completely enthralled by the story, had begun, very slowly, to believe every word. But how could he be “legendary?” He did not understand. “So you're saying that I'm this `legendary' seapony?” Wave Rider demanded.

“The legendary seapony is the one who saves my life. You saved me, while I was helpless, and while I could not think for myself. You see, I retain understanding of all that has happened to me throughout my life when I am in my adult seapony form. When I am changed into my baby pony form, I know nothing, including my name. But if you marry me, the curse will be broken. I will be freed. No matter what happens, I will have my regular magic. When I was born, my mother was the owner of the Hidden Sea Pearl, and it gave me the magical powers of creating dreams, and of making waves and altering the currents. I have been wandering the beaches of Ponyland forever, searching for you. I was forced to leave my parents when I was very young, as I could not survive underwater during the day, and the magical seapony oxygen bubbles would not work for me. It was all a part of my curse...”

Wave Rider felt pity on Hidden Pearl, and he decided to let her stay in his cave for the night. He would return her to the land-based ponies the next morning, and tell Majesty Hidden Pearl's story, so that the land-based ponies would understand. Wave Rider curled up in his bed of sea moss, satisfied that he had done some good on Pearl's behalf.

Wave Rider awoke bright and early to find the end Hidden Pearl's tail comfortably intertwined with his own. He was stunned, but he didn't mind it, and he felt safe with Pearl, as if she were meant to be there with him. Wave Rider felt terrible about waking her, but he knew that Hidden Pearl would become a tiny baby earth pony at sunrise, and he needed to get her to land before that time.

After a few minutes' deliberation, Wave Rider decided against waking his sleeping beauty, and instead he untangled his tail and lifted her gently onto his surfboard. He then pushed the surfboard to the surface of the ocean, and moved Hidden Pearl over to the vicinity of Paradise Estate. Wave Rider used the outlet that had been developed to allow seaponies entrance to the Paradise Estate swimming pool without any trouble. He splashed some water over Hidden Pearl to prevent her from drying out until her transformation. Then he used his magical shark's tooth to call Majesty.

“Well hello, Wave Rider!” Majesty exclaimed, as she ran into the courtyard, followed by a host of baby ponies whose breakfast she had been supervising that morning, “Back so soon? Is this another rescue?”

Wave Rider told Majesty the story of Hidden Pearl, and the baby ponies sat down to listen. Everyone was shocked that the gorgeous adult seapony could be the same as the cute little symbolless earth pony whom they had met the previous day. As Wave Rider spoke, the sun rose high into the sky, and in few minutes, a tiny sleeping earth pony lay on the surfboard instead of a seapony. Everyone was stunned, but Majesty took the baby pony and placed her in a crib in the nursery. The baby ponies were instructed to play with the pony as if they had never met her before, since she would not remember them from the previous day. Majesty promised Wave Rider that Hidden Pearl would be safe, and Wave Rider thanked her and went on his way.

Wave Rider couldn't even bring himself to go surfing that day. All he could think about was Hidden Pearl. Yet how could he marry someone whom he'd only met the night before? She did seem like the seapony of his dreams...and yet... Poor Wave Rider was very disturbed. He wanted to talk to the beautiful pony; to learn more about her before he jumped in and got himself beached. He just didn't know what to do. Finally, Wave Rider swam back to Paradise Estate, and watched the baby ponies play from the vantage of the pool.

Hidden Pearl was the sweetest baby there. She talked and giggled right along with the other little ponies, and the baby brother ponies seemed very interested in Pearl. She was a very likeable little pony. Wave Rider wanted so badly to be alone with her. But what could he do? Marry her? He weighed the idea of marriage in his troubled mind. Wave Rider remained in the Paradise Estate pool all day long, and he peered helplessly through the kitchen window as Hidden Pearl feverishly picked at her vegetables with all the other babies at the five o clock dinner...

It was just too much! Wave Rider couldn't take it anymore! He leapt high out of the water, nearly hitting his head on the canopy above the pool. Splashing down with a spray of water that drenched a few of the babies who were eating in the kitchen, Wave Rider yelled as loudly as he could, “HIDDEN PEARL! PLEASE WILL YOU MARRY ME?”

The tiny baby pony lifted her head from the dish of greens, ran from the kitchen, and jumped into the pool. Her body began to change, in spite of the sun still shining down on the land. Soon, a beautiful seapony floated majestically in the water beside Wave Rider. “I thought you'd never ask!” Hidden Pearl exclaimed, and she wound her tail around Wave Rider's and kissed him passionately as the land-based ponies looked on and cheered!
