Day 1, August 12, 2000

Well, there I am, sitting in my very own car seat, known to the layman as a "cup holder."  Unfortunately, it seems that the people who design cars nowadays aren't very sensible, considering that these "cup holders" wouldn't hold a Snapple bottle, or even a thin Diet Pepsi bottle.  It seems silly to install cup holders that require special sized drinking vessels.  Even though this picture was taken while in Canada, nearer to the end of the trip (after I lost my circlet), Rainribbon wanted to show it here since the car was where we spent much of the trip.

This picture was taken at our first substantial stop on the trip, at the home of Gabby the boxer and her dachshund friends, in Michigan.  I note that it was the first substantial stop because while pit stops were made along the way, they were not notable.  Here you see the family car from the outside, and the house next door to that of the dogs.
