Day 2, August 13, 2000

Here I am in the lovely hotel room that we stayed in at the Mariott in Troy, Michigan, which is located on Big Beaver Road.  We were going to stay farther north, but found when we got there that a whole slew of events, including some international games, a football game, numerous family reunions and employee parties for large corporations, and a conference on dogs for the blind had filled every hotel and motel within a hundred mile radius.  Late at night, we lucked out on an opening in this hotel and took it right away!
